[SOLVED] Using USB Webcam in VirtualBox [Archive] - Ubuntu Forums
The Windows XP "device attached" and "device detached" viftualbox play repeatedly, and the device repeatedly disappears and reappears from both the Device Manager in Windows and the System Profiler in OSX. Windows is installing the webcam driver. In my case ALSA. Due to the fact that the camera is detected at boot time and directly locked by OSX, you cannot unplug it and replug it after having started the VM, which leads to this kind of issue.
I didn't have to do anything special; it just worked "out of the box" for me. virtulabox
